Product Information

This is an extremely rare WWII British manufactured Turkish contract Vickers, Armstrong, Crayford (V.A.C.) machine gun. Only 1,176 were ever made and were shipped in two batches from February and April of 1940. The Turkish contract Vickers have some very unique features and designs only seen on their contracted guns. We have included extracts and pictures of these features as detailed in The Grand Old Lady of No Man's Land - The Vickers machine gun by Dolf L Goldsmith. In his book Goldsmith states that the majority of these guns remained in service with the Turks until after WWII after which they were sold off and replaced by the Browning machine gun. However this one bears additional British acceptance stamps and the date of 43 = 1943, and therefore must have been put back into service by the British during the war. This further supported by the calibre, which has also been changed back to British .303 from 7.92mm that was used by the Turks. We have pictured the Vickers with a British .303 canvas belt being fed from a WWI German drum magazine and an 7.92mm aluminum belt as used by Turkey. The Drum is not included but is available separately.
