Product Information

This is an early production Lithgow manufactured Vickers MKI heavy machine gun dating to May 1939. Lithgow started Vickers production in May 1929 starting with serial number 0001 and by May 1939 (ten years later) had only completed 697 guns. This gun being that last gun; serial number 697th. Up until then on average Lithgow made just 69 to 70 Vickers guns per year! With the outbreak of WWII these early guns were among the first to be put into service in September 1939 after Britain declared war on Germany. This Vickers comes with an early tripod dated 1940 and a whole host of period correct accessories. Included is a 1942 dated ammunition box with a 1943 dated canvas belt fitted with 30 inert .303 rounds, all mounted on an ammunition cradle. Canvas water jacket cover, water/petrol can with rubber hose and a wooden transit chest for the Vickers. A truly fabulous set.Worthy of any collection.
